Deepika Padukone, who turned producer with ‘Chhapaak’, had announced her second project in 2020. She will be co-producing the remake of the Hollywood film ‘The Intern’ starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Earlier in a statement, she had said, “’The Intern’ is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.” The film was earlier supposed to feature Rishi Kapoor in an important role, but after his demise last year, the makers roped in Amitabh Bachchan to step into his shoes. Deepika and Big B have earlier worked in ‘Piku’ which proved to be a success at the box office. The film was set to release this year but due to the pandemic, it has been postponed to 2022. The film will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma.
