According to a report in a news portal, the court has allowed her application seeking de-freezing of her bank accounts and for the return of her laptop and phone. The court reportedly said that with no strong opposition from the NCB on her plea seeking the de-freezing of her accounts and Fixed Deposits, it can be allowed subject to conditions including a written undertaking from her that she will make available the balance amount shown in the accounts as and when required during the trial. The report also added that Rhea’s plea had said that she supported herself and her brother from the money from her accounts which were frozen last year.
Rhea’s plea was reportedly opposed by special Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande representing the NCB and he stated that if the accounts are de-freezed there is a high possibility of the said amount to be involved in the drug-related business. Hence, he urged for rejecting the application.
However, the investigating officer in the case said that it would be best to leave the issue to the discretion of the court.
Rhea was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for allegedly procuring drugs in 2020.
On the work front, she was last seen in Rumy Jafry’s ‘Chehre’ which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. The movie received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
